Party

The end is near. I have 14 rows to go before the ribbing. This is a great project to work on in the car or at the soccer field. I would definitely consider making it again.

Yesterday I mentioned cleaning up the mini skein kits on the website. It got me thinking about an order I placed at TNNA so I sent off an email. We should be receiving boxes from SweetGeorgia the middle of August. There will be four new Party of Five kits.
Rustle
Voyage
 Whirlwind
Whisper
I've knit Hitchhiker (pattern purchased on Ravelry) twice with Party of Five kits. The pattern is easy. All you need to know is cast on, cast off, knit and increase. You knit one colour to the end of the skein and then join in the next skein. I joined in the middle of the row - I didn't want to waste one cm of yarn.

Taffy Toes (free pattern on Ravelry) is knit with a Party of Five kit. The yarn is 80% superwash merino and 20% nylon. Perfect for socks.
Marron (pattern purchased on Ravelry) is another great shawl that is knit with a Party of Five kit.

There will also be 23 colours of Tough Love Sock (100gram skeins - 388m/425yards) in the shipment including

It's the 8th inning of the Jays game and they need my full attention. Plus my knitting is calling me so it's time to say good night.

I cast off this afternoon. I can't wait to see it after it's blocked.

The pattern says
Repeat these 16 rounds 5 times more (6 repeats total). You may have enough yarn for 7 repeats, but not everyone is a yarn chicken daredevil. Knitter, know thyself.
I did not play yarn chicken. And it was a good thing. I'm pretty sure I wouldn't have made it.

Pattern: Issa Cowl (purchased on Ravelry)
Yarn: Dyed in the Wool - one skein each of two colours
I pulled out Starting Point - it's time to finish up some projects. We need lots of new display garments for the Knitters' Fair. I try to have different samples than what we showed at the Frolic.

Thank you Isabelle

I sent some yarn to Quebec (Sainte-Julie to be exact) last month. Isabelle just sent pictures of her finished shawl. I'm in love. I bought the pattern from Ambah when it came out and have been contemplating making it. Now I know that I need to make it. Isabelle's colour choice is stunning. If I didn't have work to do tonight I might be going to the store.

Pattern: Bambara Wrap (purchased on Ravelry)
Yarn: 4 skeins of Adelaide from Primrose Yarn Co
-Aphrodite
-Flashdance
-Hermione
-Nasty Unicorn
Bambara is a generously-sized wrap, knit on the bias with simple shaping and alternating sections of lace and garter. The colours and patterns weave together like the layers of a melody, calling to mind the iconic sound of The Cure’s A Forest. It’s the perfect opportunity to play with colour – use a 3-skein gradient with a coordinating contrast colour, mix speckles and solids in 4 different colours for a fun, bold look, or keep it subtle with neutral solids.
Here is Ambah's version. Beautiful as well.

Someone was very tired when she got home from doggy daycare.

Noro

This post was written for last night. Then I received Isabelle's pictures. Her shawl is so beautiful that I had to show them.
We should receive a shipment tomorrow received a shipment today that has two colours of Noro Silk Garden Sock. 2 balls will make the Crazy Magic Boomerang (pattern purchased on Ravelry). Our sample was knit with colour 411 on a 4.5mm needle.
Fun stitch in a boomerang shape - easy to knit and easy to wear. You can work from written instructions or a chart - whichever you prefer.
The original ripple stitch has been adapted to make this an intuitive knit.
It is so much fun to knit with Noro yarns. Before you know it the colour has changed. The bad thing - it is way past your bed time :)
40% Wool/25% Silk/25% Nylon/10% Kid Mohair
300m (325 yards) in a 100gram ball
fingering/sport weight
And a brand new colour. 457. There is something about yellows and golds that are grabbing my attention lately.

This is Cathy's Log Cabin Afghan. I have a bunch of squares knit for my second one but not enough. I decided that we are going to bring in a selection of colours of Noro Kureyon so that I can finish my blanket and for those who also want to make this fabulous project.

The pattern calls for 20 squares. Cathy did 25 and I think I'll be making mine larger too.

We have some colours in the store and these four colours will be in the shipment on Tuesday were in today's shipment. The new colours are on the website and I'm counting existing stock to get it added.

Pattern: So Faded
Yarn: kit from Prism Yarns - we received more kits of this colour yesterday.
Pattern: Find Your Fade
Yarn: Rockshelter Sock above and Hedgehog Sock below.

Pattern: Free Your Fade
Yarn: Adelaide from Primrose Yarn Co.

Andrea's patterns are well written and easy to follow.

See all her patterns...

A shipment arrived yesterday afternoon from Prism Yarns. There were 6 Merino Mia Gradient kits in the box. This is a new colourway - Teal. There are three more new colourways that I'll try and get pictures of tomorrow. This kit will also work for So Faded. The total yardage is 1390m (1520 yards). There is enough in the kit to make the cropped version with elbow length sleeves in all sizes. You can make the full length sweater with full length sleeves up to a finished bust size of 42".

Big Brother has taped and it's time to knit. I've been working on Starting Point. Now that I'm back at it, it is growing quickly. I'm working through clue 4 on the first half. I'll get pictures tomorrow.

Diana finished this pretty shawl earlier in the week. I'm really liking the yellow.

Pattern: Good Vibes (purchased on Ravelry)
Yarn: Adelaide - 2 colours, one skein each. We used Lemongrass and Sour Patch Kids

A box came from Lynda this morning with 2 projects. I need to do some rearranging of garments!
Now that I'm looking at this picture, the outfit is a bit grey. I should have put a pretty scarf on my friend. Imagine some purple or teal at the neck. If I knew how to do it I would have photoshopped in a scarf but that is way beyond my capabilities.
Pattern: Janesville Jacket (purchased on Ravelry)
Yarn: Woolstok
We used 6 skeins of 1304 Grey Harbor and 3 skeins of 1300 Cast Iron.

Woolstok is a great yarn.
Rich in character with excellent stitch definition and easy to work with, this yarn is available in lots of colors. You’ll quickly cozy up to it, no doubt.
I have a huge scarf in it (that Diana knit) and I'm working on one myself. I need to pull it out and finish for the fall - since I'm in finishing mode this week.

Pattern: Clementine (purchased on Ravelry)
Yarn: Dyed in the Wool - 2 colours, one skein each. We used Melancholia and Robin's Egg.

I love this!! The yarn is very soft and cozy around your neck.

I have to work two more rows in orange and then there are 24 rows of purple to finish clue 4. I know why I put it away for a while - I need to take out six rows on the other half. Then I can finish clue 3 and 4.

I mentioned that I'm in finishing mode this week. That could (who am I joking - will) change next week. There are 3 boxes on the way from Hedgehog. There are 7 boxes that weigh 333 lbs coming from madelinetosh. There is a box of Rockshelter Sock coming. Of course I'm going to start something new :)

I thoroughly enjoy knitting Stephen West's patterns. They are very well written. Here are three of his Mystery Knit A Longs that I participated in. The patterns are part of Stephen's sale.
Building Blocks knit in tosh merino light
Exploration Station knit in tosh merino light
The Doodler knit in tosh merino light. Tosh merino light appears to be a favourite of mine :)

Speaking of merino light. I've been up for a while and working with my shipper and broker to get our boxes of tosh from Texas. We should see them by the end of next week. There are new colours of merino light including

Joshua tree
mockingjay
translation
gosia
conference call
dirty harry
memory
arch

I can't wait to play with them.

Now it's time to get ready and head out. There are errands to run before opening the store at noon. It's only 9am and it feels like I've put in a full days work already.

Delphinia Shawl

I'm not sure Ambah sleeps. She has another new pattern out.
Grab two skeins of gorgeous yarn from your stash and settle in for some fun, easy-breezy knitting. Delphinia is a simple top-down triangular shawl with clean lines and familiar stitches that make it the perfect medium to showcase your favourite fingering weight yarn.
Garter sections combine with an easy lace to make an airy, light piece that is as effortless to knit as it is to wear. Choose a combination as soothing or as wild as you wish - use that tempting speckle or gradient-dyed yarn or go with a classic solid colour scheme.
Pattern Delphinia (purchased on Ravelry)
Yarn: fingering weight.

Ambah suggests 400 yards of each colour.

Take a look at the finished projects on Ravelry to get some colour ideas... When you see Ambah's shawl you think that the main colour needs to be light but there is a stunning shawl with gold as the main colour.

These pretty skeins are sitting on my kitchen counter. More on them tomorrow :)

I did a bit of blocking this afternoon. The Issa Cowl is lying out and Free Your Fade had a nice long bath.

The first half of Starting Point is finished.
This amazing wrap is worked from both ends towards the centre with a super fun chevron construction, and joined as you work (no seaming or kitchener required!).
We have had the best time putting together tons of color combinations, and we have determined that there is not a single bad combo ;) Even the monochromatic versions look stunning!
The second half is back on track. I took out six rows and now my stitch count is correct. You increase every right side row to 171 stitches. I was merrily knitting away and kept increasing. I had a few too many stitches. For a lot of patterns I could have just kept going and my shawl would end up a bit wider. That wouldn't work here - the two halves of the shawl would be different sizes.
Now that the stitch count is correct, it's time to knit.

Rainbows

Yesterday afternoon on my way home from errands I had a small problem. The tire light came on in my car and within 200m it was flat.

This morning our neighbour changed the tire for me and then I was off to the dealership to buy new tires.

It's later in the day and I'm finally home to put my feet up. I think I might knit before dinner. I had a long list of to-dos today which didn't get done. I guess I'll do them tomorrow.

Or not. There is at least one box coming tomorrow morning from Hedgehog Fibres. One shipment is Sock. 220 skeins including 4 potluck colours. The other shipment is 158 skeins of Skinny Singles (including 4 potluck) and 32 skeins of Twist Sock. I'm not sure what boxes are arriving tomorrow, the others are caught in customs.

The Issa Cowl has been blocked and looks great. I'd sew the ends in but I can't find a sewing needle at home. (a good excuse - I didn't look very hard)
More colours of Dyed in the Wool should be here by the middle of the month.

We had crazy rain that brought out a very intense rainbow.
Peggy lives down the street and sent me a text with this picture.
I think the Pot of Gold was in your backyard!
Darn - I didn't find it.

Unpacking seven boxes

Ms. FedEx brought in a huge box of Erika Knight Studio Linen this morning.
We have two samples of the Sleeveless Slipover knit up in the store. The yarn is great. It's very soft and has drape.
This style is so versatile, we all wanted different lengths. So here you have it—cropped, hip, tunic, and dress lengths. Or any length you’d like! It’s quite simple to customize your Slipover—for your personal style or body type, as a long layer with side vents, or as a short topper over a tee, to be dressed up or down.
Ms. Canada Post came in this afternoon with four boxes. Two from Frabjous Fibers and two from Hedgehog Fibres. It gets confusing on which way I am to spell Fibers/Fibres.

These are just a few of the colours that we received in a new sock yarn called Mary Ann.
85% merino
15% nylon
434m/475 yards
Mary Ann fingering weight sock base has a delightfully soft hand with the smoothness and durability you want in a fabulous sock yarn.
The yarn isn't on the website yet. Hopefully tomorrow.

One box was full of Skinny Singles and Twist Sock. This is a brand new potluck colour. The other box had half our order of Sock. I've updated the website except for the potluck colours - I need to get pictures.

As I'm trying to unpack all the other boxes, Mr. UPS came in with 2 more boxes. The first was from Meadowcroft Dyeworks. We have three new Find Your Fade kits as well as new colours of Rockshelter Sock.
These kits are in single ply, fingering.

The other box was Knitter's Pride needles for the shelf. I'm exhausted :)
I just saw this on Ravelry.
What the Fade?! pattern by Andrea Mowry
I am so thrilled to announce the first ever Drea Renee Knits Msytery Knit (ahem) FADE Along!!
The first clue will drop on August 31, so that we all have plenty of time to gather our most favorite fade! Grab your pattern today to check out the welcome video and then head back here to post pictures of your fade ideas!!
Fingering Weight Yarn: 6 different colors (1 skein each) to create a cohesive fade
size US 3/3.25mm (32 in/80 cm - 40 in/101 cm circular)
Watch Andrea's Ravelry group for more information...

Purchase the pattern...

This looks like fun. I'm going to put together some colours combinations later this week. After the yarn is put away.

What the Fade?

Alex brought in her Find Your Fade and I need it. She jammed it in her bag quickly after I took pictures. I don't think she trusted me with it.
She used Hedgehog Skinny Singles
-ghost
-daydream
-cheeky
-potluck 1170
-crybaby
-potluck (sold out but you could use the new 1310)
Adelaide
-lemongrass

While we were putting yarn away I started to play with colours for Andrea Mowry's Find Your Fade and What The Fade? Find Your Fade needs 7 colours and What the Fade? requires 6. I made Find Your Fade colourways and then took out one skein for What the Fade?

Rockshelter Sock

Rockshelter Sock - I can put together colours that don't include purple :)

Hedgehog Sock

Yesterday I talked about Mary Ann from Frabjous Fibers (Wonderland Yarns). Here are two options for What the Fade? I used the same colours but the top colour in the first picture became the last picture in the second. Friends can use the same colours but by using them in a different order the shawls will look different.

Meet the new potluck colours from Hedgehog. The first four are in Sock and the last three are in Skinny Singles.

Surprisingly I didn't bring any skeins home with me. That could change tomorrow :)

I did paperwork and website updating last night until a silly hour and there was no knitting. I'm going to sign off now and get a few more rows knit on Starting Point. I'm on a mission to get it finished soon.

Did you know that Ambah is running a special for the month of August?
Welcome to #knitaugust Each day I will feature one of my patterns with a 24 hour, 50% discount on that pattern
Visit her Facebook page or follow on Instagram.

I came to work yesterday morning and saw that I had a visitor in my garden. The deer are back and had a good meal on my plants.

Remember the unpacking?

Mr. UPS just brought in a box from Rowan. Unfortunately Rowan Magazine #62 wasn't in the box. The fall launch is August 15 and we hope the book will be in stock that day. I've heard rumour that Rowan will be debuting a new website that day as well.

Ms. Canada Post brought us a box of patterns from Churchmouse Yarns. I love their patterns. Here's a little secret. There will be brand new patterns at the end of the month.

Tweed from The Fibre Co.

Dash Falls (pattern purchased on Ravelry) is from a collection called Fell Garth II.
Some places call to you and you have to return again and again and some are so special that they beg you to stay and never leave.
Fell Garth II is a collection of 19 pieces shot at our homestead, Fell Garth, in the stunning Lake District of Northern England. We invite you to join us in the Cumbrian Fells for some knitting pleasure from a host of talented designers ready to inspire with designs in 5 of our yarns.

We have some new yarn on the way to us and I am very excited. I love tweed. Always have and always will. The shipment should be here by the middle of August. I'm showing this early because the patterns are on the front of the Hot Right Now list on Ravelry.

Arranmore Light from The Fibre Co.
Inspired by the breathtaking scenery of Ireland's Northern Headlands, Arranmore Light is a finer weight cousin to the popular Arranmore yarn. Arranmore Light is spun in a mill that traces its roots to the tweed industry of 19th century County Donegal. With a color palette reminiscent of the wild Irish coastlands, this dk weight yarn was designed for makers appreciating the best of luxury and tradition.

Lynda and Wannietta are both waiting for projects. Once the yarn arrives I'll be firing them off boxes so that samples can be made for Camp.

Badge for 2017 K-W Knitters Fair
We're busy getting ready for the Knitters' Fair as well. I'm not sure how we are going to fit everything I want to bring into the booth.

Make sure you mark the times for Lily Chin's talks at the Fair.

Life in the Long Grass is on the way to us. It's been released from Canada Customs and we should see it on Tuesday or Wednesday. Why does Monday have to be a holiday? I can't wait to see the yarn.

There are 210 skeins of 75/25 (superwash merino and nylon sock yarn) and 104 skeins of merino singles.

I hope to get the pictures on the website over the weekend so I can add stock when it arrives. Small problem. My madelinetosh is in Milton. I really need it :) so dad and I are picking it up on Monday morning. I could be playing in the store on Monday.

I should have arranged the pictures better. There will be great combinations for What The Fade?! I'll lay some skeins out when the yarn arrives.

I just purchased the pattern. Andrea posted an introductory video with some fade ideas and she will be posting more videos when the KAL starts.

Did I mention that I can't wait???

For the yarn and the KAL to start :)

Lazy Sunday

I received a very exciting message on Instagram earlier this afternoon. It was Steffi at Uschitita. Our yarn is dyed. She'll be shipping early in the week.

Steffi said that she hopes the yarn sells well. If these two colours are any indication, it won't sell at all - it's all coming home with me :)

Today was all about Starting Point.
I'm about to start the twisted rib. That has to be the part of the shawl that I hate. Not the look of it but knit into the back of the stitch and then purl into the back of the stitch is so slow.

It's time to stop whining and get to it. It isn't going to knit itself. We're going to watch Big Brother and then it's bed time for me. Dad and I are heading to Milton early in the morning. Then I'll get to play in pretty madelinetosh yarn all afternoon.

New Unicorn Tails

Dirty Harry DK

Dad, Lucy and I left early this morning on a little road trip to Milton.

The truck was unloaded before I got pictures. We had seven huge boxes in the back and one box in the back seat with Lucy (which she wasn't happy about). That's a lot of yarn :)

It is pouring rain here - I don't think I need to water the flowers today. Since I can't be outside I'm sitting at the breakfast bar with my computer entering the tosh shipment.

The shipment has been entered and the website is up to date.

I showed you Rita's Dotted Rays Speckled Fade in June. We have all the colours in stock now.

tosh sock
astrid grey
great grey owl
charcoal
el greco
The border is onyx and grasshopper.

I'm hoping that Rita is sick of wearing the shawl and is ready to give it to me.

I've been sitting here for a few hours and it's time to close up the computer. I'm going to knit a few rows. Or nap. I haven't decided yet.

I've been here since 8am to unpack tosh. Unpack and rearrange. I need more space :) The store is going to be in an uproar for a week or so while I move yarns around.

Ms. Canada Post visited this morning with two huge boxes. LITLG is here.
This is Shack. The colour is awesome.
I took some pictures of the singles. The colours take differently when there is no nylon in the yarn. This is Crush.

I showed Isabelle's Bambara Wrap a few weeks ago.
Pattern: Bambara Wrap (purchased on Ravelry)
Yarn: 4 skeins of Adelaide from Primrose Yarn Co

I put some colours together in LITLG singles. Cantaloupe, Afterglow, Ripple and Crush (the pop colour C1)

I wanted to show a non purple, non pink colour so you know that I can look at other colours :) This is Foliage.

When I thought it couldn't get any better (or worse) Ms. FedEx brought in two boxes from SweetGeorgia yarns. More on these tomorrow. Or the next day. I think I have enough for blog posts until the end of the month.

Mom and dad have a new bed. Dad and I were trying to put the sheets on last night. Someone snuggled in and we were done. It's hard to yell at her because she is so cute - which she knows and uses to her advantage.

Don't forget that the store will be closed on Tuesday August 22. We will be back on Wednesday August 23.

Meet Voyage. This is a new Party of Five kit from SweetGeorgia Yarns. The denims are fabulous. So fabulous that we have the colours in full skeins of Tough Love Sock as well.
Whitewater
Clearwater
Watershed
Hudson
Marine

What is a Party of Five kit? It is 5 mini skeins of sock yarn (80% superwash merino, 20% nylon) with a total yardage of 480m (525 yards).
Whisper is beautiful too.

We were busy unpacking a very special box today (pictures tomorrow because another box is coming) so I didn't have much time to work on the website. The Party of Five kits are online and I'll get the full skeins up in the next few days.

Magician
London Fog
Jasmine
Pacific Spirit
Mirror Pond
Lupine

There is a rule in our family - No Secrets. Even if I try I can't keep one. Uschitita arrived this morning. The first box. There will be 148 more skeins tomorrow. I was going to wait until  the second box arrived but I had to share.
These are the colours I chose for Dotted Rays, Speckled Fade. I think. Everything could change tomorrow when the other colours arrive.

Where is he??

Mr. UPS didn't show up until late this afternoon with our second box. Alex and I had our noses pressed to the windows all day. Where is he????

I think the pictures speak for themselves. The colours are amazing!

I'll try and take more tomorrow. Steffi has beautiful pictures on Instagram so I've borrowed a few.

I brought some skeins home and they are taunting me from the table. I will not start anything new. Okay. Tonight I won't start anything new but I might tomorrow.
Lucy loves to visit me at work. Dad opens the door of the truck and she runs towards the store. She cries when it's time to go. It's even better when dad stops to get me a tea. The ladies at Tim's give her a cookie. Life is good when you're a dog :)
